Overview: Creating advanced rollovers

You may need more complex rollover behavior than you can create in the Button Editor. For example, you may want to create a disjoint rollover, or a navigation bar that changes appearance according to which button is clicked.

You can create complex rollovers using slices and frames without using the Button Editor. You can also assign additional behaviors to existing button symbols using the techniques discussed in this chapter.

The basic building blocks for creating rollovers in Fireworks are slice objects, hotspot objects, and the Behaviors inspector. For more information about hotspots and slices, see Chapter 13, "Creating Hotspots and Image Maps" and Chapter 14, Slicing Images.
